A Smalltown Boy…

This week, I had the opportunity to do some headshots for the All-American boy.  He grew up in a small town, played football, went onto to college to succeed there, and landed his dream job of an NFL player.  Luck?  nah.  This kid works.his.butt.off.  It’s inspiring.  I’m no aspiring NFL player- but I dream big.  I can see the dedication, sacrifice, and spirit he has just in talking to him for a few minutes.  I know without a doubt he will go so far because he wants to.  I admire that in a person- someone who can kick their own butt.

Know what I love about this kid (besides his incredibly good looks!) is how absolutely sweet he is.  Just wanna squeeze him absolutely sweet.  He went to Catholic School.  He calls his grandma every day from San Diego (where he plays for the Chargers).  He’s hosting a football camp this summer with all proceeds benefitting Cystic Fibrosis because his youngest cousin has the disease.  Squeeze him sweet.

I love Colton’s story because it could absolutely be my son.  Colton is from Washington- just like us.  He went to St. Patrick Catholic School- just like my son. His family is some of our dearest friends- and it’s so, so good for this momma to see that your kids can excel beyond your wildest imaginations- and if you bring them up right, they will be humbled and honest and good people.

Funny story- in 1st grade they had to write a story about what they wanted to be when they grew up.  Colton wrote he wanted to be an NFL player.  They made him rewrite it as it was supposed to be an ‘attainable’ goal.  Guess he showed them.  Thank you Colton for showing me I can do whatever I put my mind to as well:)  (except I’m fairly certain I could never have those abs…)

Root for Colton on the San Diego Chargers this upcoming season:)))  Just a small-town boy living the dream:)
