Ben & Anika: January 3, 2015

What an incredible way to start off 2015.  When I first met Anika in Champaign on a break from her studying for her law school finals, I was immediately struck with how sweet she was!  We discussed school, how much we love the U of I, and food.  I was on my way home to cook a fancy meal for my family- and Anika was impressed with my son’s palate for couscous, flank steak, and asparagus:)  I knew then and there her food choices for her wedding would be amazing:)

I loved hearing the details of this wedding as they came together.  Anika and Ben wanted class, elegance.  A twenties-esque theme with a winter wonderland sort of feel.  Her notes of her plans, paired with her crazy amazing line up of vendors had me SO excited:)

Our engagement session in downtown Chicago (where they live) was so much fun!  We explored the streets of Bucktown, went to the museum campus, and just had an amazing time.  It was during this session I lovingly nicknamed them my ‘William and Kate’ couple.  Ben is so tall, so regal, so blonde.  Anika is so gorgeous with dark hair and dark eyes.  I absolutely couldn’t wait for their day!

Their wedding day was chilly, although better than could be expected for January in Illinois.  Anika’s dress was to die for- and the ostrich feather wrap that she chose was sooooo amazing:)  Her hair was done in a perfect 20’s style by Marvella Salon with a gorgeous headpiece.  Brittney of B. Loved Stylists rocked her makeup with the eyes and lips!!  The bridesmaids dresses paired with the long strand of pearls were perfect!

As usual, I loved watching as the bride had her first moments with those closest to her!  Seeing her dad for the first time:)  Reading a letter her mom and dad wrote to her as they stood and held her!  Reading the letters she and Ben exchanged and then watching (with tears!) as they saw each other for the first time!!!  The photos at the Pere Marquette (a fancy, classy hotel) were so much fun as they matched perfectly the vision that Anika and Ben had of their day!  We then jetted off to a old-fashioned car museum where we were able to photograph in a vintage model-T!

The ceremony was special and shared such an awesome message.  Ceremonies are my favorite part- I love hearing over and over the message of marriage:)  It helps me be a way nicer wife each week in and out:)    The reception was unbelievable.  The staff at Metamora Fields outdid themselves again (if you’ve never worked with Lisa Miller at Metamora, you’re missing out- she’s amazing!!)  The women of Create a Scene, I Do events, and CWG Invites made the reception an elegant winter wonderland.  It was absolutely stunning!  So Chic Events and Katie Minehan helped to run a seamless day!!!  And of course entertainment by one of my favs- DJ4U made for a super fun party!  The first dance was memorable as they performed a fun twenties style dance number:)  It.was.adorable:)

Thank you Ben and Anika for such an amazing day and amazing way to start off 2015:)
