Hopkins Wedding | July 31, 2020
Erin and Matt are pretty amazing people. I LOVED their wedding day in Erin’s backyard. Per the usual in 2020- this couple had to rearrange their plans quite extensively for their Chicago-area based wedding. They opted for a small ceremony in her backyard garden with a small reception in a tent in her driveway. But it was perfect. The ring bearer falling backwards in his chair during the ceremony, the cut-outs of the bride and groom that were present in the garage, the adorable decor of lemons with the theme ‘making lemonade out of lemons’ referencing Covid- it was just all perfectly perfect. These two are some of the sweetest humans and their families are amazing. I can’t WAIT for their party next year!! I only spent a few hours with them this day- but can’t wait for next year when we do the whole shabang!! They are the best:) Congrats you two!!!
(sidenote- I will NEVER forget their wedding day for personal reasons. My son is an avid baseball player, and his coach is one of his (and mine) favorite people in the world. This summer- we received two blows- one, that the IESA baseball season was cancelled due to Covid, and two- that this amazing coach was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer. Our family was devastated. I got in my car after this wedding and opened my phone to a text from our coach that the IESA season had just been announced to go back ON- and he’d be there. I literally sobbed like a baby until I was at least 45 min down the road!! It was the best. Something about weddings really makes you step back and appreciate the people in your life. Especially these small intimate weddings where the couple is surrounded by people who truly LOVE them with their whole hearts. That’s how our family feels about this coach- so to follow up one emotional day with that emotional text- I was toast:) ha! update- we did play our season. We went 13-2. And it was amazing:)
