Dance like no one's watching...

It’s so so good to see kids out and doing somewhat ‘normal’ things right now. Throughout all of this- my heart has ached most for kids. It’s hard enough as an adult to understand what’s going on and to adapt to how my life was turned upside down- let alone for kids. So it was my PLEASURE to get to photograph these sweet sisters and cousins in their adorable dance costumes! These girls are SO talented- and so sweet to boot! I look forward to this session each year!

And let’s talk about this session. It’s not a ‘typical’ session, right? But you think about it- and you realize that mom is kind of a genius. With all of these costumes- to buy photographs from the photographer they have at the recital- times THREE daughters- she’d be spending a fortune to get one pic in each costume. So a few years ago- she reached out and asked if we could do a session in their costumes. She loads up the back of her car with all of their changes- and we shoot in a location that has some diversity to it- and we truck through about 25 costume changes in an hour. While I’m shooting one, the other girl is changing. For the price of a session for us- she gets a TON of photos of her girls in their costumes. Kinda brilliant. And, they’re fun, and different, and edgy! NOTHING at all against the photographers who shoot at the dance recitals. God Bless you! I did that one year and cried. It was too much for me:). Drunk bridal parties have NOTHING on 100 dance girls on recital night. nope, nope, nope. So those photogs earn every.single.penny and I’m so glad there’s people out there to do it:))). But if you’re looking for an alternative- this is it:). Kudos to this smart momma for picking up on that idea and rolling with it!

We can do this for any activity. Sure- I shoot baseball teams and each kiddo gets 1-2 individuals. But how cool would a whole session of just your kid be? And I’m pretty sure that kids who hate getting their picture taken would be down for pictures of something they love.
